Vello Technologies ("Vello," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Vello is currently available only to users in the United States.

By using Vello, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address, first name, and last name when you create an account.
  • Profile Information: Optional phone number and profile picture.
  • Bill Provider Connections: When you connect a bill provider, you sign in through a secure in-app browser (WebView) provided by the biller. We use the resulting connection to retrieve billing information on your behalf. You can disconnect any provider at any time.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Bill Information: When you connect a provider, retrieved billing data may include amounts due, due dates, billing status, and billing statements (PDFs for Premium users).
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and push notification token for delivering notifications.
  • Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and error logs to improve the Service.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Bill Provider Data: We connect to your bill providers to retrieve billing information on your behalf.
  • Payment Processing: If you subscribe to Vello Premium, RevenueCat processes your subscription through Apple's App Store. We receive your subscription status, but we do not receive your payment card details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Vello Service
  • Retrieve and display your bill information from connected providers
  • Send notifications about upcoming due dates, overdue bills, and bill changes
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Process and manage Premium subscriptions
  • Respond to support requests
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve the app
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Service Providers: Third-party companies that help us operate our Service, including:
    • Supabase (database and file storage)
    • Firebase (push notifications)
    • Sentry (error monitoring). We configure our logging to avoid sending sensitive personal data by default and to minimize identifiers.
    • RevenueCat (subscription management)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Passwordless authentication using email verification codes
  • Database access is restricted and monitored
  • We use encryption and access controls to protect sensitive connection data.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services:

  • Account data is retained until you delete your account
  • Bill history is retained to provide historical views and analytics
  • Provider connections can be removed at any time by disconnecting a provider
  • Logs and analytics data are retained for up to 90 days

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Disconnect: Remove any connected bill provider at any time
  • Notifications: Manage notification preferences in the app

8. Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications for bill reminders, overdue alerts, and important account updates. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings or within the app.

9. Children's Privacy

Vello is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Vello after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
